Full-time Software Professional living in Melbourne, Australia. I love photography and blogging about software, technology, and science.

Hi, I’m Georges.

Trained as an electrical engineer, I started my professional career as a software developer for a company in the payments business. I have been in the software industry since 2005.

Throughout my 15+ years in the business, I had the chance to participate in quite a few exciting software projects for clients around the globe.

I spend a great deal of my time commuting, which gives me an excellent opportunity to keep up my favourite hobby: reading.

What This Website is About

Software is a complex business, growing very, very fast.

Having had a minimal theoretical background to lean on, I had to learn the trade on the job. This is easier today because of the internet but also challenging given the tremendous amount of information you need to assimilate.

To make it even more demanding, I had to work out what was relevant to my work and what was, in some sense, practical enough to be applied. This is crucial as my job demanded timely delivery before everything else.

I decided to start this website in 2020.

I am hoping that by sharing my knowledge with the software community on the internet, I will be able to achieve two different goals simultaneously.

Regarding my first goal, there is a saying: You never truly understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother. Therefore, I decided to perfect my knowledge by writing about it.

Now for my second goal.

In the past years, I enjoyed working with great teammates. Some shared valuable expertise, while others were kind enough to ask for my help and gave me the opportunity to assist them.

Both experiences brought me immense joy and self-satisfaction, and by sharing my knowledge with the software community, I hope to relive those experiences.

I hope you enjoy reading my articles as much as I have enjoyed writing them!
